parish council meeting

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 12 March at 7:00pm.

It will be held at THE METHODIST HALL, HIGH STREET (venue changed on 10 Mar). All residents are most welcome to attend.

It should be pointed out that there is a public forum lasting 30 minutes at the start of the meeting for members of the public to air their views and ask questions. During the meeting, the chairman can suspend standing orders in order to accept statements from the public.

This is an extra meeting this month to address just three items (only two of which the public can observe):

  1. A revised planning application for two detached houses on Church Hill. The initial application last summer was for a detached and 4 semi-detached abodes. The parish council meeting attracted around 40 members of the public who spoke vociferously against the application.
  2. A licencing application for the new Worsley’s Tea Room and Bistro (formerly The Bat’s Wing). This application is for a licence similar to that held by the likes of The Taverners, The Essex and The Griffin.
  3. Consideration of tenders for the cleaning of the Public Conveniences in the car park (to be held in private, no public involvement)

Sorry to say that we won’t have any news on how this meeting went since the Parish Council seem to be unwilling to release draft meeting minutes. We will have to wait until after the next meeting on Monday 9 April after which they will make the minutes available. If you attended this meeting, or the meeting the previous Monday and are willing to write a few paragraphs, we’d be very happy to share the information here.
