parish council meeting

Two Godshill Parish Councillors have resigned from the council. They are the two who have been the most recent additions to the council having been co-opted onto the council by the remaining councillors themselves.

Those who have stood down are Yasmin Nigh who was co-opted in June 2017 and Jonathan Bacon who was co-opted in September 2017.

There has not been an election of parish councillors in Godshill since May 2005 when the only one of the remaining 4 councillors to not be co-opted, Pat Button, polled the highest number of votes amongst the seven candidates standing.

So, if you are resident in Godshill and would like to see an actual election take place, put pen to paper and write to County Hall before 23 September (see below for suggested text for your letter). By all means drop an email to Godshill Online ( to say you have written and we can then report when at least 10 letters have gone in.

Dear Sir or Madam

As a local government elector in the parish of Godshill, I wish there to be an election for the two vacancies that now exist on the Parish Council.

Yours sincerely

It would be great to get a proactive parish council that is forward thinking and gets on with things instead of just rabbiting on all the time and not getting anywhere
